The 5 Greatest NBA Teams Of All Time

Going back in time, I wanted to research and look for the The 5 Greatest NBA Teams Of All Time.

It was a long challenging research, but I’ve found 10 teams that I believe are the best ever, and I’d like to share them with you now.

Los Angeles Lakers

  1. 1971-72 L.A. Lakers- They were lead by Jerry West and  Wilt Chamberlain to their first of many Championship titles. They had an overall record of 69-13. They had 33 consecutive wins, and this is a record that still stands. Last year’s Miami Heat were trying to break this record to no avail. The 71-72 Lakers won an NBA record 16 consecutive road wins and a road percentage of .816 which still stands. They defeated New York 4-1 in the NBA Finals that year.

New York Knicks

  1. 1969-70 New York Knicks- They combined for a 60-22 record and their first NBA Finals Championship. Lead by Willis Reed and Bill Bradley. Team Captain Reed missed game 6 with a torn leg muscle but managed to come back in game 7 and score the first to baskets in the game which lead to the inspirational win over the Lakers.

1966-67 Philadelphia 76ers

  1. 1966-67 Philadelphia 76ers- This magical team was lead by Wilt Chamberlain and Hal Greer. They had a regular season record of 68-13 and started the season out by going 46-4 run which would later be broken by the 71-72 Lakers. They ended the Boston Celtic’s 8 year Championship run by beating them in the Eastern Conference Finals before going on to defeat the San Francisco Warriors in NBA Finals.

1964-65 Boston Celtics

  1. 1964-65 Boston Celtics- Another team lead by Bill Russell, they broke their own winning record by going 62-18. They defeated the 76ers in 7 games in one of the most epic game sevens in Eastern Conference Finals history. A blocked shot by John Havlicek lead the Celtics to a 110-109 win to go move on NBA Finals where they went on to defeat the Lakers 4-1.

1995-96 Chicago Bulls

  1. 1995-96 Chicago Bulls- Michael Jordan (The greatest basketball player ever, in my opinion) along with Scottie Pippen, and Dennis Rodman lead the Bulls to a regular season record of 72-10 and 87 out of 100 games including the playoffs. This team was known for running the triangle offense and started the season out at 41-3, in Michael Jordan’s return from his brief retirement.
This is just a list of my The 5 Greatest NBA Teams Of All Time. I’m curious as to where you think I went right or wrong? Would you order the list differently? Would you add other teams over some of these? Discuss below!
