Absolutely love this match-up for him. Cole had a fantastic spring and looks forward to pitching at home amongst some fans in the stands finally. Cole faced the Blue Jays only twice last year but boy did he dominate. He combined for 14 innings pitched, including only 8 hits, 2 Runs, 1 HR and 15 Ks. I wouldn’t be surprised to see Cole go at least 7 innings again and flirt with double-digit Ks. He is 1 pitcher I’ll be paying up for on Opening Day.

This is more of a GPP play for me. Yankees are known to smash lefties and Ryu has given up some home runs to the current Yankees roster. He faced the Yankees twice last year with mixed results. In his first game, he gave up 5 ERs with 3 HRs, in his second game he went 7 innings, allowing only 5 hits, 2 walks, 4 Ks, and 0 ERs. Not 100% sure which Ryu we’ll see in this game but we can see some salary savings with this pick. I would only use him as a pitcher if you are one to make multiple lineups.

Not Justin is coming off an 8-1, 1.63 ERA, 122 K Cy Young-winning season. He gets a very juicy match-up against a terrible Detroit Tigers roster. Along with the other pitchers, he faced this team twice last year himself. He lasted 7 innings in both of those games. He struck out 10 in 1 game and 11 in the other. This could be a fantastic match-up for him. He is the most expensive pitcher on FD, so he could be also one of the highest-owned. A fantastic cash play, but might want to look elsewhere for GPP pitchers. The only problem here is the wind will be blowing out in this game, BUT it’ll be in the 20s so it could affect the bats.

Maeda is a very interesting pick here. It’s more of a GPP pick as I just can’t trust him in cash games on either Fanduel or DraftKings. Just as the other pitchers, Maeda faced the Brew Crew twice last year. In his first game he went 6.2 innings, allowing 2 ERs and 5 Ks. Game number 2 saw him go 8 innings, striking out 12, 1 hit and only 2 walks. If he’s stretched out enough, Maeda could go under-the-radar for others on Opening Day.

I am 100% picking on the Diamondbacks on this slate. I don’t care what the numbers say above, the 30.3% K means a big FP number out of him. He’s cheaper than some of the bigger names out there and his ownership should be lower as well.

Weather To Watch:

TOR @ NYY: This game should be good to go. I could see a slight delay, but we should be good. Going to be cold and right in the 40s.

CLE @ DET: It’s going to be COLD. With the windchill, going to be in the 20s. 15-20 mph winds blowing out.

BAL @ BOS: Should be the same as the NY area. 50ish degrees out and wind blowing out.

PIT @ CHC: In the 30s, winds blowing in. This could bump up pitching ownership here.

ATL @ PHI: Same thing as all of the east coast games. Looking at a cold game and winds blowing in around 15-20 mph.

REMEMBER: These are lineups we use, but feel free to pick and choose plays and make your own lineups. Don’t ALWAYS follow these as they don’t hit 100% of the time. We do use these but sometimes late scratches happen and it’s too late to update the lineup. Good luck and bring home the bacon.
