Fantasy Football Week 8 Waiver Wire

It’s Waiver Wire Wednesday! It’s that special time of the week that can make (or break) your seasons. Nothing is more satisfying than landing that up-and-comer, that injury replacement, or that breakout stud from the previous week. Conversely, nothing is more infuriating than the team immediately ahead of you on the waiver wire list snagging that player you had your eyes on. Here at, we’ll give you the tools you need to own the waiver wire and your daily/season-long leagues.

Slow week on the waiver wire this week. See below for who we’re targeting for week 7 and beyond!

Dak Prescott – Still available in nearly 60% of leagues, the rookie has played like a seasoned vet. The Cowboys are coming out of a bye and have a tough matchup against the Eagles. If he’s available, now would be a good time to snag him. Dez Bryant is back this week and, other than a week 13 trip to Minnesota to take on the Vikings, the Cowboys have an extremely favorable schedule moving forward.

Ryan Fitzpatrick – Look, I’m not advocating for Ryan Fitzpatrick. The 2016 version of Ryan Fitzpatrick has been historically bad.  However, he’s made our list for a few reasons: 1. He’s available pretty much everywhere and the byes are upon us, 2. Geno Smith is out with a torn ACL and Fitzpatrick is literally the only person the Jets can trot out there, and 3. The Jets are playing the Browns. If you’re desperate, throw the dart.

Running Back

TY Montgomery – Montgomery didn’t disappoint last week as he was heavily involved in both the running and passing attack of the Packers. On most sites, Montgomery gives you the added benefit of being designated as a RB/WR, meaning you can essentially flex him anywhere on your roster. He’s worth a roster in any format and will be heavily used piece of the offense moving forward.

Devontae Booker – The backfield situation in Denver has blossomed into a full on RBbC. This is awful for CJ Anderson owners, but Booker is available in nearly 75% of leagues. Get him.

Mike Gillislee – With LeSean McCoy out for an unknown amount of time, Gillislee needs to be rostered immediately. I have a person vendetta against Gillislee for ruining my daily lineups, but I digress. He’s a solid add for the next few weeks and a cheap play in DFS.

Chris Thompson – Matt Jones fumbled near the goal line Sunday and CT took over the Redskins backfield. Thompson is a safe add in PPR formats.

Wide Receiver

Cordarrelle Patterson – The former 1st round draft pick has seen more targets and usage now than at any other point in his young career. He’s seen at least six targets in each of the last three games and converted them into 16 catches and two scores. Patterson possesses elite speed and could be close to a major breakout.

Davante Adams – Adams is obviously more involved in the offense this year compared to the last few. He exploded last week for a 13-132-2 line against the Bears. I can’t expect that kind of production consistently from Adams but, with the Packer run game in shambles, Rogers is being forced to throw the ball 50 times per game. That can’t be a bad thing for Adams.

Tight End

It’s a slow week, obviously. It’s unlikely, but if Vernon Davis is available, get him. Other than that, it’s slim pickings…Jacob Tamme and C.J. Fiedorowicz are about the only two low-owned tight ends I would consider rostering this weekend.

As discussed in previous Youtube videos, after 7 years, we've decided to take some time off. My plan is to take a couple of months off and transition to making FantasyTeamAdvisors a Season-Long and DFS Fantasy Football website. Hopefully, you understand and we'll be back better than ever!
