Daily Matchups for 5/2/2017
Pitchers To Target:
Masahiro Tanaka- Not only do I love this match-up due to the fact that Tanaka is coming off a complete game shut out against Boston in 97 pitches, but these Blue Jays are a terrible hitting team this season and Mat Latos is pitching for them. What does that mean? It SHOULD mean that the Yankees are able to clobber him and give Tanaka the lead he needs to take another W tonight.
Career vs Current Blue Jays Roster
AVG: 0.178 [19 for 107], BABIP: 0.224, K%: 25.4, BB%: 5.3
FIP: 2.72 Groundout: 31 Strikeout: 29Single: 13 Lineout: 9 Walk: 6 Flyout: 6Double: 4 Pop Out: 4 Forceout: 3 Grounded Into DP: 2 Home Run: 2 Field Error: 2Fielders Choice Out: 1 Hit By Pitch: 1 Bunt Groundout: 1
Chris Sale- Look at his elbow in this picture. It just makes me cringe as his 112 lb frame has held up this long. He’s coming off a tremendous game against the Yankees although it was a loss since his team couldn’t muster up a single run for him. This should be a different story tonight against Alec Asher and the Orioles. He’s struck them out at a 26% rate while only walking 7.7%.
Career vs Current Orioles Roster
AVG: 0.258 [24 for 93], BABIP: 0.317, K%: 26.0, BB%: 7.7
FIP: 4.16 Strikeout: 27 Single: 17Groundout: 13 Flyout: 11 Walk: 8 Pop Out: 7Forceout: 4 Home Run: 4 Lineout: 4Double: 3 Grounded Into DP: 2 Hit By Pitch:2 Bunt Groundout: 1 Sac Bunt: 1
Jon Lester- Love this match-up against Jeremy Hellickson and the Philadelphia Phillies. He is coming off of a rough start against the Pirates where he lasted only 5.2 innings, gave up 10 hits, 5 ERs, 5 Ks in 107 pitches. People might see this and be off of him but that’s what makes him an intriguing GPP option.
Career vs Current Phillies Roster
AVG: 0.226 [14 for 62], BABIP: 0.293, K%: 30.8, BB%: 3.1
FIP: 2.70 Strikeout: 19 Single: 10Groundout: 9 Flyout: 7 Pop Out: 3 Lineout:3 Home Run: 2 Walk: 2 Double: 2 Bunt Groundout: 2 Grounded Into DP: 1 Fielders Choice Out: 1 Forceout: 1 Field Error: 1Strikeout – DP: 1 Sac Fly: 1
Ervin Santana- The things Santana is doing this season so far are ridiculous. If you live under a rock you probably have no clue what his numbers are but buckle up and enjoy the ride. Santana is 4-0, with 26 Ks, a 0.77 ERA and 0.66 WHIP. He’s got a fantastic match-up against an Oakland Athletics team that he’s held to under a .250 BA in 90 ABs. He makes a terrific under the radar middle priced player tonight.
Career vs Current Athletics Roster
AVG: 0.244 [22 for 90], BABIP: 0.313, K%: 26.0, BB%: 6.0
FIP: 2.84 Strikeout: 26 Groundout: 16Single: 13 Flyout: 12 Double: 7 Walk: 6Lineout: 5 Pop Out: 5 Grounded Into DP: 2Home Run: 2 Sac Fly: 2 Hit By Pitch: 2Fielders Choice Out: 1 Field Error: 1
Jose Quintana- Absolutely love this match-up which is the exact same one he had last week. This game will be played in Kauffman Stadium and if you have watched our video about the Baseball Ballpark Breakdown, you’ll know that Kauffman is a pitchers park. In that game last week his line was (6 IP, 5 H, 2 R, 1 ER, 0 HR, 2 BB, 10 SO.) I wouldn’t be surprised if he does something similar tonight as the Royals just haven’t been hitting lefties this season.
Career vs Current Royals Roster
AVG: 0.266 [102 for 384], BABIP: 0.305, K%: 19.6, BB%: 4.2
FIP: 3.56 Groundout: 85 Strikeout: 80Single: 69 Flyout: 54 Double: 20 Lineout: 20Pop Out: 18 Walk: 16 Home Run: 11Forceout: 8 Grounded Into DP: 8 Field Error: 5 Fielders Choice Out: 3 Sac Fly: 3Hit By Pitch: 3 Sac Bunt: 2 Triple: 2 Intent Walk: 1 Double Play: 1
Other Pitchers: Matt Moore, James Paxton, Cole Hamels, Alex Cobb
Batters To Target:
Matt Carpenter vs Wily Peralta- 20 for 43 (.465 BA), 11 singles, 6 doubles, 3 HRs

Evan Gattis vs Cole Hamels- 7 for 23 (.304 BA), 4 singles, 3 HRs

MLB DFS LINEUPS
REMEMBER: These are lineups we use, but feel free to pick and choose plays and make your own lineups. Don’t ALWAYS follow these as they don’t hit 100% of the time. We do use these but sometimes late scratches happen and it’s too late to update the lineup. Good luck and bring home the bacon.
