Our 2020 Fantasy Baseball Sleepers to steal at your draft.
Baseball is coming back, we just don’t know when. If you’re living under a rock, COVID-19 has taken the sports scene and completely shut it down in the US. Yesterday was supposed to be Opening Day and I for one am super sad. Fantasy Baseball must go on and if you haven’t drafted yet, we are here for you.
2020 Fantasy Baseball Sleepers
C- Josh Phegley– Chicago Cubs
Phegley recorded several career-highs in 2019 with the Oakland A’s, including 12 home runs, 18 doubles and 62 RBIs. Phegley also played in a career-best 106 games in 2019 and scored a career-best 44 runs. We obviously know that Willson Contreras will be the starting catcher but Phegley appears to have impressed enough to overtake Victor Caratini and Phegley might go undrafted once the season starts and this could be a steal for you.
P – Danny Duffy- Kansas City Royals
Danny Duffy gets a shortened year to bounce back. He is only a couple seasons removed from a DUI and also a great pitching year. I’m looking for him to go super cheap in auctions, and possibly not even drafted in 10 team leagues.
In 2019 Duffy pitched to a 4.34 ERA/4.78 FIP/ 5.14 xFIP with a 36% groundball % and a 12.4% K-BB %. Fangraphs projection systems have his ERA rising to a range of 4.65-4.86. That being said Duffy was held to just 23 starts in 2019 as he dealt with some nagging injuries. Every projection system has his start total rising to a range of 25-31.
SS- Elvis Andrus- Texas Rangers
Now listen, you’re going to watch other top prospects go above him. Didi Gregorius, Gleyber Torres, Bo Bichette, Paul Dejong and more. Andrus is always an after-thought but he had a fantastic 2019. Last year he played in 147 games with 12 HRs, 31 SBs, batting .275 in 600 ABs. I’m loving him on the cheap if you’re looking for a player who will fill out the stat sheets almost every night.
OF- Brian Goodwin– Los Angeles Angels
Goodwin was just a bench player for most of his career up until the Angels claimed him before the start of the 2019 season. With Calhoun signing with the Diamondbacks, that could open up some more playing time next to Trout in 2020. Last year Goodwin had 17 home runs and 7 stolen bases. I’m looking for him to build on his 2019 and have an even better 2020.
